This delightful itinerary follows the development of the Medici dynasty and, in the company of an expert Florentine guide, visits the family seat of Cosimo il Vecchio at Palazzo Medici Riccardi. Then proceed to the magnificent tombs of the family at the Church of San Lorenzo. See the funerary monuments of Giuliano and Lorenzo dei Medici by Michelangelo featuring his masterpieces, Night, Day, Dawn and Dusk. A short walk brings you to the Church of Santa Maria Novella where the altar frescoes of Ghirlandaio in the Tornabuoni Chapel once again reveal portraits of the members of this accomplished clan that ruled Florence for centuries and shaped the Renaissance. As an added bonus, make a short visit to the historic Farmacia Santa Maria to purchase creams, soaps and elixirs made by the Dominican monks.
